چکیده

Seed extracts of Moringa oleifera were assayed for the evaluation of antimicrobial activity against bacterial (Pasturella multocida, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis and Staphlocuccus aureus) and fungal (Fusarium solani and Rhizopus solani) strains. The crude, supernatant, residue and dialyzed samples inhibited the growth of all microbs to various extents. The zones of growth inhibition showed greater sensitivity against the bacterial strains as compared to the fungal strains. The extracts worked in dose dependent manner and resulted in crippled and distorted hyphae and apical branching in fungi. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) extracts revealed that Pasturella multocida and Bacillus subtilis were most sensitive strains. However, the activity of the extracts was antagonized by cations (Na, K, Mg and Ca). Maximum activity was found between temperature 4 -37 C and pH 7.

EVALUATION OF THE FLOCCULATION EFFICIENCY OF Chlorella vulgaris MEDIATED BY Moringa oleifera SEED UNDER DIFFERENT FORMS: FLOUR, SEED CAKE AND EXTRACTS OF FLOUR AND CAKE

Flocculation as a pre-separation method can help make production of biodiesel from microalgae economically feasible. In a previous study, Moringa oleifera seed flour (1 g.L-1) was shown to be a very efficient flocculant for Chlorella vulgaris, a microalga with high potential for biodiesel production. In this study, several aspects of C vulgaris flocculation mediated by Moringa were investigated...

Potentiality of Moringa oleifera aqueous extract as a growth modulator and antistress in acute hypoxic Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus

This study aims to get a comprehensive evaluation of the growth promoting effects and the hypoxic stress relief potentiality of Moringa oleifera aqueous extracts. Oreochromis niloticus fingerlings were arbitrarily allocated into five duplicated fish groups (30 fish tank-1). The fish groups were labeled according to the M. oleifera aqueous extract dietary inclusion level (G1:G5). MOAE had fundam...
